Tis the Season
I know only Halloween is upon us this weekend, but I can't help but think of what to wear for Holiday parties. [like I'm invited to so many. FYI I haven't been invited to one yet. A girl can dream can't she?] I tried on this one at work today by Alice & Olivia. I'M OBSESSED. I'm going to splurge. Here's the dress:

Enzo's Penne a la Vodka
16 ounces dry penne pasta, cooked according to package directions (see note)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (28-ounce) can Italian plum tomatoes, shredded or pureed
8 ounces heavy whipping cream
Pepper Vodka (see note)
Pinch salt to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese
Saute onions in butter and olive oil until transparent, Add shredded or pureed tomatoes with juice. Cook over medium heat 20 to 25 minutes or until all liquid content is reduced. Meanwhile in separate saucepan, cook Pasta according to package directions, drain very well and set aside.
When tomato sauce is ready, stir in heavy cream. Bring to a near boil, reduce heat and cook 2 to 3 minutes until cream and tomatoes are well blended. Stir in sauce and pepper vodka, mix, stir in hot cooked penne pasta. Stir together to blend. Liberally sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Makes 4 servings.
Chef's notes: Pepper vodka is a commercial item available at many liquor stores, but it does not have the concentrated flavor. For a homemade version, stir 1/4 teaspoon red crushed pepper in 4 tablespoons of vodka. Put aside and let marinate 3 hours or overnight. Using a coffee filter or fine cloth napkin, allow peppered vodka to filter 3 hours. Remove and discard filter and set vodka concentrate aside.
Once the tomatoes have been added to the sauteed onions.

Monsieur Mondays
Did you have a case of the Mondays this week? Well, if you did we have a recipe to cure your symptoms. It's called Croque Monsieur (pictured above). This french recipe is out of this world. We used Ina Garten's recipe off foodnetwork, and we all were speechless at dinner. It literally turned our Monday frown upside down. We accompanied the sandwich with a light salad.
2 heads of Romaine lettuce chopped
4 leaves of buttered lettuce chopped
8 radishes quartered
Dressing:
3 tablespoons of red wine vinegar
1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl whisk together the red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Slowly pour in the extra virgin olive oil while whisking. Add the mustard and mix together. Mix the dressing with the salad (once the sandwiches are out of the oven) and dinner is served!

I’ve just spent the better part of three minutes reading about the betrothal between Prince Rainer III and Grace Kelly, and let me tell you, shit is bizarre. YOU'RE WELCOME!
I'm 99% moving to San Diego into a new apartment this weekend. I have been living headboard-less/bed frame-less for the past two years. I'm pretty much over having my bed sitting on the floor. As I was researching headboards I stumbled upon an AMAZING idea. Instead of buying a headboard and being stuck with something you might be over in a year OR moving it to a new apartment years to come you could buy a decal. YES, I said it a DECAL HEADBOARD. GENIUS!
