I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to the ultimate Mother: Momma Bevo. She taught both her Sorelles' to present flowers in a vase properly. Here are the steps to perfection:
First, hold one stem up to the vase to measure how much you are cutting off. You always want the flowers to look like they are blooming out of the vase. As you cut each rose one by one make sure to immediately place them in water.
See how in this picture the bud of the roses are just peaking over the edge of the vase. You never want to the roses looking like they are falling out of the vase. You always want them crowded together because it's visually pleasing.
And of course the flowers always look better after a glass of wine or two or five.
